Ammon News - A PlayStation 4 user has gone viral on TikTok after sharing a look at the amount of dust and dirt that was hidden inside his console and fellow gamers had no idea either.

Since the pandemic began, we've all become a little cleaner - sanitising and washing our hands as often as possible to keep germs at bay.

This means we might also have started paying more attention to how clean our homes and the things we use every day really are.

For instance, did you know that there could be a lot of dust and dirt lurking inside your games console?

One man recently shared a look at the grime he'd found in his PlayStation 4 after learning that you can take off part of the cover.

He shared a video to TikTok, in a post under the name @dtpeach, showing just how gross it was.

The video was captioned: "I wish I had known you can do this a long time ago."

The clip has since gone viral, being watched over 200,000 times and garnering thousands of likes and hundreds of comments.

Many people were equally disturbed by the reveal and also admitted they had never cleaned their consoles either.

One person replied: "Well, I know what I'm doing tomorrow."

Another wrote: "Hmm... off to check my son's PS4."

A third said: "Mind blown. As if I'm just discovering this and it works."

"We need to clean ours," admitted someone else.

A different user added: "I did not know... Not sure if I wanna open and see the extent of it on mine."

Others urged the TikTok user to also check the fan on the PlayStation and give that a clean so it doesn't overheat.

However, some couldn't believe he hadn't cleaned the console sooner.

With a fellow gamer proclaiming: "It's in the manual!!"

A second asked: "The question is, 'how did you not know?'"

For those now keen to clean their console, it's worth noting that some have warned removing the cover can void the device's warranty - so do check before you take anything off.

The official PlayStation website advises to always remove power cables from the console before doing any cleaning.

They add: "Use a low-powered vacuum cleaner to remove any dust that has accumulated in and around the air vents."
