Temperatures to soar 14 degrees above average as heatwave continues

Ammon News - Jordan on Monday will remain under the impact of a heatwave, as mercury levels will rise 13-14 degrees above annual average, so hot weather will prevail in much of the Kingdom, while it will be sweltering in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said in its daily brief.

The JMD warned the public of the direct exposure to the sun, and of poor visibility in the Badia areas due to dust.

Temperatures in Amman today will reach a high of 36 degrees Celsius, dropping to 21C at night, while the Gulf of Aqaba will see a scorching 41C, dipping to 26C during night hours.

On Tuesday, the heatwave will start to ease when mercury levels are tipped to drop few degrees, but will remain above seasonal average at this time of the year by 9-10C, the JMD predicted, forecasting relatively hot weather in most regions, except in the Jordan Valley and Aqaba where it will hot, with northwesterly moderate to brisk winds.

A further dip in temperatures is expected on Wednesday, bringing fair weather in most areas of the country, and relatively hot conditions in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba, the JMD noted.
