Ammon News - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, and Dutch Minister of Foreign Affairs, Stef Blok, on Monday held talks focusing on ways to upgrade Jordanian-Dutch relations and boost coordination and cooperation to resolve regional crises and bring about security and stability.

During a telephone conversation, the two ministers stressed joint solidarity against the Covid-19 pandemic.

They also discussed preparations for the 5th Brussels Conference on Supporting the Future of Syria and the Region, and its importance for the international community to continue helping the Syrian refugees through financial commitments enough to cope with this burden.

In this context, Safadi appreciated the support provided by the Netherlands to Syrian refugees and its commitment to Jordan in its efforts to meet the needs of the refugees. Safadi and Blok reviewed efforts aimed at achieving a political solution to the Syrian crisis, in addition to developments related to the Palestinian issue.

In this regard, Safadi stressed that there is no alternative to the two-state solution based on international law and international legitimacy resolutions as the only path to resolve the conflict and bring about a just and comprehensive peace.

The deputy premier thanked the Netherlands for its support of the two-state formula, and paid tribute to the European nation's continued support of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).

Block underscored Jordan's efforts to achieve security and stability in the region, stressing that his country sees Jordan as a major partner. He praised Jordan’s humanitarian role in hosting Syrian refugees.

The two ministers agreed to maintain communication and work to develop cooperation in various fields.
