Ammon News -

Jordan Monday welcomed Saudi Arabia's initiative that is aimed at reaching an agreement that would bring an end to the Yemen crisis and reiterated full support for the Gulf state.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi said the Kingdom "fully" supports the Saudi initiative that offers a framework for reaching a political solution in line with the international resolutions, as Saudi Arabia is keen to uphold regional peace and stability and that of Yemen's.

Safadi, who is also the deputy prime minister, decried the Houthi group strikes against Saudi Arabia, emphasizing Jordan's solidarity with and support for the Gulf state in protecting its security and national interests. He reiterated that Saudi Arabia's security is that of Jordan's.

Safadi's remarks came following a meeting with the Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for Yemen Martin Griffiths that focused on the efforts to end the Yemeni crisis through diplomatic channels.

He reiterated the Kingdom's support for the UN-led efforts to end the crisis that has destabilized the country and cost it its security.

There should be an immediate ceasefire, he stressed, emphasizing that all parties must abide by all agreements to end the Yemen crisis.
