Jordan records 61 COVID-19 fatalities, 8, 053 new cases on Sunday

The Ministry of Health announced 61 Covid-19 fatalities and 8, 053 new cases were recorded in the Kingdom on Sunday, bringing the death toll to 5,346 and the caseload to 477, 053.

The new infections comprised 3, 631 cases in the capital, Amman, 1, 358 in Irbid, including 25 in the northern border district of Ramtha, 588 in Zarqa, 487 in Balqa, 423 in Karak, 356 in Jerash, 305 in Ajloun, 252 in Aqaba, 235 in Madaba, 207 in Mafraq, 126 in Ma'an , including 2 in Petra district, and 85 in Tafileh, according to the media statement issued by the Prime Ministry and the Ministry of Health.

The number of patients who were admitted to hospitals today stood at 451, while 323 cases have recovered and discharged, the statement added.

According to the briefing, the total number of recoveries recorded Sunday, whether at hospitals or at home, stood at 6,068, bringing the total to 396,195 since the outbreak began.

Moreover, the number of patients still receiving treatment at hospitals countrywide has reached 2, 769, including 307 on ventilators.

The statement also indicated that the number of confirmed and suspected cases on ICU beds has reached 632, or 51% of the total ICU bed occupancy capacity.

With regard to testing, 42,270 tests were conducted Sunday, 18.79 percent of which were positive.

Since last March, the total number of tests administered has increased to 5,174,645, the joint statement noted.
