JU, Irish Embassy discuss cooperation in higher education

Ammon News - Vice President of the University of Jordan (JU), Kifah Jama'ani, on Tuesday met with Irish Ambassador to Jordan Vincent O'Neill and his accompanying delegation.

The meeting discussed ways of cooperation in the fields of higher education, especially medicine.

The two sides discussed mechanisms to enhance joint cooperation in academic fields, and the possibility of developing joint academic and research programs, student exchange programs and faculty members between the JU and Irish universities.

During the meeting, Jama'ani highlighted the JU’s march, its achievements, and the pioneering position it has achieved locally and internationally, lauding the deep-rooted ties between the two friendly countries, especially in the higher education sector, as many of the JU’s professor obtained their higher degrees from key prestigious universities in Ireland.

In turn, Ambassador O'Neill said he was happy with visiting the university, lauding the JU's prestigious academic reputation in the region and the world, expressing his hope for strengthening cooperation relations between the JU and higher education institutions in Ireland.

Dean of the JU's School of Medicine, Yasser Rayyan pointed out the possibility of cooperation with the School of Medicine at University College Cork (UCC), and the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) on bachelor's, higher specialization and post-higher specialization.
