Labour Ministry

Ammon News - The Ministry of Labour on Wednesday launched a programme titled “Digital Projects”, with the aim to support 150 young Jordanians from across the Kingdom’s governorates and three badia regions, according to a ministry statement.

The programme aims at supporting and encouraging Jordanian youth to use information technologies in entrepreneurship, creating sustainable income-generating opportunities at the lowest possible prices, in addition to enabling them to work from home, according to a ministry statement which has been reported by The Jordan Times.

Minister of Labour and Minister of State for Investment Affairs Maen Qatamin, during the launch of the programme at the Vocational and Technical Skills Development (TVSD) Commission, noted that “the idea of the programme, which is implemented by the Development and Employment Fund with support from the TVSD Commission, came after the outbreak of the pandemic, which made those projects a way for the youth to generate income, without having to seek employment abroad”.

The minister added that the programme offers interest-free loans with a value of no more than

JD3,000 for each pioneering project, whereas the programme would include, in its initial stage, 150 beneficiaries from across the governorates and the three badia regions.

Furthermore Qatamin pointed out in the statement that the programme would offer training opportunities for the selected young people, “with the aim to enhance their skills to enable them to succeed in their projects, in addition to strengthening the economic and technical relationship between the beneficiaries”.

In the statement, Head of the TVSD Commission Qais Safasfah said that a committee will vet applications and announce the list of applicants after interviews.

He also noted that a technical committee, comprising private sector representatives, will evaluate the ideas of the proposed projects.
