Ammon News - Iraq's Ambassador to Jordan, Haider Al-Athari, on Tuesday presented his credentials as a non-resident ambassador and extraordinary plenipotentiary of the Republic of Iraq to Palestine, to the Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad Al-Maliki.
During the ceremony, which took place at the Palestinian Embassy in Amman on Tuesday, Al-Athari conveyed the greetings of the Iraq President, Barham Salih and Foreign Minister, Fuad Hussein to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Foreign Minister, Riyad Al-Malki.
Al-Athari also lauded on deep-rooted ties with Palestine and keenness to develop them to serve the two countries' peoples, as well as Iraq's steadfast stance towards the Palestinian issue and the Palestinian people's right to establish their state with Jerusalem as its capital.
The Iraqi ambassador said that he would devote his efforts to fulfill his mission in a way that contribute to strengthening bilateral relations, cooperation and partnership between the two brotherly countries.
For his part, Minister Al-Maliki welcomed the selection of Al-Athari as a non-resident ambassador to the State of Palestine, expressing hope that this step would contribute to developing bilateral relations, strengthening partnership and coordination in various files, referring to Iraq's historical positions in support of the Palestinian people and their just cause.
