Minister of Agriculture, Mohammad Daoudiyeh, and Switzerland Ambassador to Jordan, Lukas Gasser, on Monday discussed leveraging the Swiss expertise in the field of flash flood map to ward off risks and determine the optimal use of land, especially in the Jordanian Badia.
Both officials tackled the challenges facing the agricultural and water sector in the Kingdom and ways to overcome them.
During the meeting, Daoudiyeh gave a briefing on the flash flood map, in addition to the agricultural map and the rainwater harvesting map that the National Center for Agricultural Research contributed to achieving, underlining the government's interest in these maps.
The minister stressed the importance of benefiting from the Swiss expertise to support the output of these maps in order to overcome obstacles that the agricultural sector faces in the Kingdom.
Ambassador Gasser, in turn, expressed his admiration for the performance of the Jordanian agricultural sector, noting that the Swiss embassy is currently developing a new strategy that revolves around the water issue, with a focus on drinking water.
The ambassador expressed his readiness to employ the outputs of scientific research carried out by the Swiss side and align them with the outputs of scientific research at the National Center for Agricultural Research, ensuring optimal use of water, especially in light of the scarcity of its natural resources.
