Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - A hot water spring was recently discovered behind a waterfall during a routine maintenance check of the hot thermal pool in Evason Ma'in Hot Springs and Six Senses Spa Resort near Madaba.
The temperature of this newly discovered hot spring reaches 75 degrees Celsius. It is believed to be more than 1,000 years old.
Resort employees are working round the clock to divert the path of the spring to pour into the hot thermal pool, raising the temperature of the pool by nearly 7 degrees Celsius.
The spring is considered one of the hottest - temperature wise – to be discovered in the area. The temperatures of other springs do not exceed 45 degrees Celsius.
This brings the total of hot springs in the northern Wadi al-Zarqa Ma'in region to 65 springs.
"This discovery is great and came at the exact right time. We are nearing winter season, which is the time that our hot thermal pools become more popular as weather gets colder," Manish Buri, CEO of Evason Ma'in Hot Springs and Six Senses Spa, said.
Thermal pools are known to have therapeutic and healing affects for those using them. Hot water pools and springs contain a very high mineral content, containing everything from simple calcium to lithium, and even radium.
