Ammon News - Some 28 underprivileged families in the governorates of Ajloun and Irbid Saturday received the keys to their new homes as part of a royal initiative offering housing for impoverished families across the Kingdom.
The initiative was launched in 2005 for all of the governorates upon a directive by His Majesty King Abdullah II to provide a decent life for the most needy families, who are selected according to fair and transparent criteria by the Ministry of Social Development.
Despite the exceptional circumstances the Kingdom is currently experiencing due to the coronavirus pandemic, the fully-equipped housing units, which were constructed according to the highest specifications, are periodically handed over to beneficiaries in the various regions of the Kingdom.
Royal Court Chief, head of the committee to follow up on the Implementation of His Majesty's Initiatives, Yousef Issawi, handed over the keys of the new homes to families in Ba'un in the Ajloun Governorate and in Al Mashare'a in Irbid Governorate, in the presence of Public Works and Housing Minister Yahya Kasbi, Social Development Minister Ayman Mifleh and the Governors of Ajloun and Irbid.
The Royal Court Chief and the ministers also toured the new Military Retirees Club building project in Ajloun, one in a package that His Majesty ordered to be established in all of the Kingdom's regions to serve military veterans and their families. The club will be furnished soon before its opening.
Issawi said during the ceremonies that His Majesty attached great attention and care to improving the quality of life of the citizens, especially families that suffer under difficult conditions, and that he is keen on improving their living conditions and meeting their needs.
