Army chief, US envoy discuss defense cooperation

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Major Gen. Yousef Huneiti, discussed with the US ambassador to Jordan, Henry Wooster, the latest developments on the regional and international arenas, aspects of joint military coordination, and ways to enhance bilateral cooperation relations in the defense field, in a way that serves interests of the armed forces in the two friendly countries.


Speaking during the meeting held Sunday at Jordan Armed Forces (JAF) headquarters, Huneiti affirmed the Army's readiness, represented by the Jordanian Royal Medical Services (RMS), to provide "full" support and "continuous" coordination to meet all the health needs of all diplomatic missions and military attachés in the Kingdom to preserve their health and safety.


In turn, Wooster praised the JAF's efforts to curb the spread of the coronavirus, especially in relation to establishing field hospitals to support the Jordanian health sector and enhancing its capabilities to mitigate the pandemic's negative impacts.
The US defense attache attended the meeting.
