The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates has affirmed Saturday, that Jordan "fully stands by Morocco in all its steps taken to protect its national interests, territorial integrity and security."
In a press statement, the ministry affirmed its support for the steps ordered by His Majesty King Mohammed VI to restore security and safety in the Guerguerat buffer zone on the border between Morocco and Mauritania and to ensure the citizens' security and the traffic, trade movement.
The ministry's spokesman, Dhaifallah Fayez, condemned the "illegal" incursion into Guerguerat, which violates the signed agreements and pushes towards a threat to security and stability.
Fayez stressed Jordan's "clear and firm" position in supporting the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco and its sovereignty over all its lands and backing efforts to reach a political solution to the Moroccan- Sahara problem, according to International legitimacy decisions and the autonomy initiative launched by Rabat.
