Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The Independent Election Commission (IEC) announced on Wednesday the date set to accrediting applications for local and international observers to monitor the upcoming parliamentary elections has ended.

In a press statement, the IEC said 47 local bodies had applied, of which 31 had been approved that met the executive instructions to accredit local monitors, while 16 local observer bodies had not completed the accreditation requirements.

With regard to the accreditation of international observers, the IEC said 22 monitoring bodies have "actually" submitted applications, of which 18 were accepted, while two were turned down for failing to meet requirements, and two others did not complete the supporting documents needed to accredit international observers.

Wrapped up last Tuesday for both local and int'l observers, accreditation applications were launched to oversee the 2020 parliamentary elections on August 5 for domestic monitors, and on 16 August to international peers, according to the IEC.
