20 infections with Covid-19, including 16 local cases

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Twenty new cases of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) were reported on Wednesday in the Kingdom including 15 infections announced by the Health Minister during the meeting held today at the Interior Ministry, bringing the caseload to 1,303, according to the Health Ministry.

The news cases include 16 local cases that were distributed as follows: 5 cases of citizens from the northern governorate of Irbid (2 employees in the Jaber border crossing and 3 contacts of previous infected cases), 6 cases from the Ramtha city, all of them work at the Jaber border crossing, 4 cases from Amman, all of whom were contacts of previous infected cases, including the two nurses, whose infections were announced this morning, and one case from the northern governorate of Mafraq, for an employee in the Jaber border crossing, according to the briefing issued by the Prime Ministry and the Health Ministry.

Four imported cases were also reported for Jordanian truck drivers, who arrived at the Al-Omari border crossing.

According to the briefing, 26 new cases of recovery were recorded, including 25 cases in the quarantine-designated area in the Dead Sea, and one case in Prince Hamza Hospital.

Additionally, 6641 Covid-19 tests were conducted, bringing the total number of tests conducted since the start of the pandemic to 665,653.

As for activating Defense Order No. (11) of 2020, it will take force on Saturday. This order will oblige owners of establishments and individuals to adhere to the utmost caution and prevention, as well as imposing penalties on every facility in which its employees or its visitors do not adhere to wearing masks or neglect measures of prevention and follow practices that could jeopardize the health and safety of citizens.

The partial curfew hours will also be amended as of Saturday, to become from 12am until 6am for citizens, and from 11pm until 6am for the commercial sectors.

The ministry called on citizens to adhere to safety and prevention standards, wear masks, avoid holding gatherings for more than 20 people, and use the "Aman" and "Sehtak" apps.
