Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Prime Minister Omar Razzaz Monday thanked the committees of the Himmat Watan Fund and the Ministry of Social Development and Health accounts that were set up to collect donations from institutions, companies and individuals to back up the national effort to combat the coronavirus pandemic and alleviate its various repercussions.

"I thank them on behalf of the government and every Jordanian citizen who received support from the fund and the accounts, particularly those who lost their income during the crisis," he said at a meeting with the heads of the committees of the Himmat Watan (a nation's effort) Fund and the Social Development and Health Ministries' accounts.

"These contributions and donations are not to the government, but are from citizen to citizen, since this is a solidarity fund to assist those who incurred damage from the pandemic," he said.

He pointed out that the donations, estimated to have reached 107 million dinars, were a proof of the people's interest in contributing to the national effort to overcome the crisis, expressing hope for bigger donations and a greater number of beneficiaries.

The Prime Minister said that the prompt response by the government and the parties concerned to the crisis "has spared us from the many health and economic repercussions that many countries are currently paying their price," stressing that the focus should be on exit and recovery from the crisis.
