Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The Public Security Directorate (PSD) announced on Sunday, it has resumed its marine marine patrol vessels' operations, to carry out ecology-related roles aimed to conserve the environment in the Dead Sea and the Gulf of Aqaba.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the patrol vessels were manned with "qualified and trained" crews to deal with all environmental violations, in a bid to reduce harmful marine practices, and to protect biodiversity in the Gulf of Aqaba, simultaneous with enhancing domestic tourism in the two travel destinations.
On the other tasks, the vessel deployment also eyes to provide assistance to tourists when needed, added the statement, noting this step emanates from the PSD's belief in the important role in preserving the ecosystem and supporting tourism.
Discussing the patrolling impact, the PSD said the new operation is carried out with the concerned stakeholders, expressing hope cooperation will follow to preserve the marine environment that reflects Jordan's image as an "ideal destination" for tourism, and supports the national economy and domestic development.
