04-06-2020 09:30 AM

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Most public and private sectors and activities in the Kingdom will reopen as of Saturday (June 6th) after the government downgraded the epidemiological risk in the Kingdom to moderate, State Minister for Media Affairs Amjad Adaileh announced on Thursday.

Accordingly, all cafes, restaurants, hotels, motels, nurseries, and tourist sites will reopen provided that they conform to the highest health safety and hygiene guidelines, Adaileh told a press conference at the National Center for Security and Crisis Management.

He added that mosques and churches will also be allowed to reopen their doors for worshippers throughout the day while ensuring that distance and safety measures are in place. The minister further announced that sport activities will be allowed to resume but without fan attendance. Additionally, domestic flights from Amman to Aqaba and vice versa will also be permitted.

However, Adaileh indicated, schools, kindergartens, community colleges, universities, training and cultural centers, wedding halls, youth camps and related activities, cinemas, event management entities, public parks, theme parks and playgrounds will remain closed at the current stage.

Furthermore, the minister announced that the curfew hours will be readjusted allowing free movement from 06:00 am to 12:00am while businesses will be allowed to open from 06:00am to 11:00pm.

According to Adaileh, worshippers will be allowed to go for dawn prayers provided that they move on foot only. Also, the odd-even vehicle movement rotation system will be revoked as of Saturday in all governorates and public transport will operate between governorates at 50 percent of seat capacity.

Visits to prisons and care homes will also be allowed. Nevertheless, those above 70-year-old and those with chronic diseases are banned from public movement. Weddings and funerals ceremonies will also remain banned, the minister added.

The minister explained that these regulatory measures are subject to continuous evaluation and review, and are linked to the epidemiological situation and health risk indicators.

Adaileh stressed that this stage requires awareness, sense of responsibility, cooperation and adherence to the safety guidelines, saying: "preserving these gains and making progress in them is our responsibility."
