Such decision risks pushing the region towards further conflict and renders the one-state option de facto, the minister further warned during a phone call with Spain's Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, Arancha Gonzalez. During the conversation, both ministers agreed to reject any Israeli steps to annex occupied Palestinian lands and said such move will violate international law and undermine the foundations of the peace process, which was originally launched from Madrid in the 1990s. Safadi and Gonzalez reviewed steps needed to an international position that can prevent Israel from proceeding with its annexation schemes. The discussion also dealt with the latest developments in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and EU-Jordanian partnership.
