Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of State for Media Affairs, Amjad Adaileh, said no new decision has been taken regarding the resumption of governmental and private institutions' work or the extension of their work suspension decision, excluding the previously exempted from this decision, including schools and universities.

In a press briefing at the National Center for Security and Crisis Management held Sunday evening, Adaileh said: "such topics are still on the table, and we will announce any decisions once taken."

"What is circulated about this matter, through social media and some media outlets, are proposals and recommendations that are currently being studied by relevant teams, within a set of options, not decisions," Adaileh explained.

He added: "The safety and health of citizens is a red line, and we will not rush into taking a decision that could jeopardize that."

The State Minister pointed out that earlier today, His Majesty King Abdullah presided over a National Policies Council (NPC) meeting, which discussed latest developments and procedures followed to deal with the coronavirus crisis, within the framework of His Majesty's follow-up on the repercussions of the crisis, and his leadership of efforts to limit pandemic's impact on different sectors.

Adaileh mentioned His Majesty’s emphasis during the meeting on the importance of finding creative and innovative solutions to face challenges "that we are experiencing as a result of this crisis," especially with regard to institutions' work and resuming the production process, without jeopardizing the safety and health of citizens.

He also pointed out that the government held a session chaired by Prime Minister, Omar Razzaz, during which the Cabinet discussed developments of the crisis, a set of proposals related to it, the future of business continuity in light of the implementation of the curfew, and the precautionary measures taken by the government.

"Since the beginning of the crisis up until today, the government and official authorities have taken 207 decisions and measures aimed at protecting citizens, preserving their safety, and mitigating the damage that affected many sectors and individuals as a result of this crisis," Adaileh affirmed.

Continuing: "As we believe in your right to know these procedures, today we will publish them on our official platforms, and via the media outlets; and they will be constantly updated whenever we take new measures," emphasizing that distance education for school students has been improving, whether via the (Darsak) platform or specialized TV channels that broadcast lessons to students.

According to the latest survey conducted by the Education Ministry through a specialized center; students who have accessed the platform stood at about 70 percent, while 33 percent of them were able to follow the lessons through TV channels, Adaileh indicated.

This week, the Ministry will announce the detailed results of the evaluation of students and their parents on distance education, with a view to building on and developing them, he noted.

Adaileh also affirmed that the decision to close the border, air, land and sea crossings, to passengers will continue until further notice. This which decision, he added, is related to internal and external developments, and no date has been set yet to reopen and resume movement at these crossings, bearing in mind that the movement of freight on these crossings has not been stopped since the crisis began.

He expressed hope that conditions would improve quickly, and that life would return to normal in Jordan, neighboring countries and the whole world, and that the movement would be resumed via the crossings, stressing that "our students and citizens abroad are the focus of our attention and appreciation, and our embassies abroad follow their affairs constantly... and we hope that conditions will soon allow their return to their homeland, and we are still studying the possibility of this matter."
