Gov't dismisses reports on land selling at Petra

22-02-2020 02:29 PM

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The Government on Saturday dismissed as "mere rumors and misinformation" reports that some lands located in and around the Ancient City of Petra will be sold, labeling such news as unfounded and misleading.

A statement by the Prime Ministry said such fabrications risk undermining national efforts and achievements at a time when the tourism sector is on a sustained upward trajectory.

The statement emphasized that it is not in the realm of possibility to think about selling a one square meter of the Petra, saying there are plans to further upgrade tourist and public services at the Rose-Red City.

The concerned authorities will track down those who disseminate such rumors and hold the accountable before the law.
