Heatwave engulfs Jordan over weekend

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - A slight rise in mercury levels is expected on Thursday, bringing hot and dry conditions across many parts of the country, while it will be extremely hot in the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said.
Clouds at high altitudes with southeasterly moderate are also forecast on Thursday.
Maximum temperatures expected for today in Amman will reach 38 degrees Celsius dropping down to 25 at night, while mercury levels in the northern and southern cities will range between a high of 36 and a low of 23. The weather will be hotter in the port city of Aqaba with mercury levels soaring to 45 degrees during daytime and sliding to 30 at night, the JMD added.
Temperatures will further rise on Friday, becoming 10-11 degrees Celsius above annual average and bringing more dry and very hot weather across the Kingdom. Mercury levels are expected to slide few degrees down, but relatively hot to hot conditions will continue to prevail across the country, the JMD added.
