Crown Prince attends the signing ceremony of a telecom agreement in Davos

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - HRH Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II attended on Thursday the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), the Crown Prince Foundation (CPF), and Microsoft Corporation to promote cooperation in the development of Jordan's ICT sector and cybersecurity.

The MoU also seeks to strengthen the ICT sector's legislative and regulatory environment, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and stimulate creativity, innovation, entrepreneurship and technical and vocational education in Jordan.

The agreement, signed on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum held in Davos, Switzerland, in the presence of Microsoft's Executive Vice President, Sales, Marketing and Operations, Jean-Philippe Courtois, aims to support and implement the digital transformation process in Jordan through the integration of artificial intelligence technologies, and the launch of ICT policies.

Under the MoU, capacity building cooperation will be launched in the fields of artificial intelligence, data classification, cloud computing and human resources training.

The MoU was signed by the Minister of State for Investment, Muhannad Shehadeh, and Microsoft General Manager in Jordan, Hussain Malhas.

The agreement provides a joint action to identify a road map for the integration and implementation of digital services within the government's priority sectors, provide technical assistance to the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology in gov't data classification, and propose an action plan to carry out the classification process in partnership with the Crown Prince Foundation focusing on artificial intelligence solutions and empowerment of Jordanian youth in these areas.

In this context, the CPF's role focuses on implementing the terms of the agreement in three phases. The first involves capacity building of local software providers to reach 1,000 young men and women.

The second stage aims to identify five to ten startups in the field of software development and connect them with a number of business accelerators and investors in the field of artificial intelligence, as well as enhancing their involvement in global platforms such as the Emerge 100 Startups Conference and the establishment of the 21st Century Skills Laboratory Lab AppFactory.

The third will witness the establishment of an electronic platform to expand the scope of work and access to about 500 companies and 16 thousand web developers, in addition to about 50 start-up companies.
