Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Traders across the Kingdom Saturday cast their votes to choose new chambers of commerce nationwide, according to the Independent Election Commission (IEC).
It said that voting got off to a slow start after ballot boxes opened at 8:00 am, adding that by midday, only 20.4 per cent of an estimated 30,000 voters had cast ballots in Amman, Irbid, Zarqa, Aqaba, Tafileh and Madaba. They were electing 231 members to the chambers.
IEC President Khaled Kalaldeh said that there was overcrowding in the main polling centre in Amman, where candidates and supporters had gathered, adding that the electoral commission had taken all procedures to ensure that voters cast ballots freely in all 68 centres countrywide.
