PM, Lower House speaker discuss tax amendments

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament Atef Tarawneh on Sunday stressed the importance of revisiting amendments to the Income Tax Law to get acquainted with their impact on various sectors.
Tarawnerh made the remarks as he met with Prime Minister Hani Al Mulki in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister and State Minister for Economic Affairs Jafar Hassan, Finance Minister Omar Malhas and Minister of Political and Parliamentary Affairs Musa Maayteh.
Al Mulki and Tarawneh stressed the importance of starting a dialogue to discuss the amendments.
The prime minister affirmed that the government will meet with professional associations and various industrial and commercial sectors to review these amendments.
Tarawneh added that revisiting amendments related to the expansion of taxpayers categories, assuring the investors, withholding the disclosure of accounts to taxpayers, and reviewing of the impact of the amendments on private sectors related to financial leasing, are all of vital importance.
Tarawneh stated that the House will start through its committees and blocs to hold meetings, adding that the chamber is keen to reach understandings that would not affect the poor and citizens with limited income.
