Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Ayman Safadi on Tuesday said that there is no greater danger than the continued Israeli occupation and depriving the Palestinian people of their right to freedom and the statehood.

Safadi made the remarks in a speech at the opening session of the annual conference of the Arab Thought Foundation in Dubai.

During the conference, which was inaugurated under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the foreign minister reaffirmed the Kingdom's rejection of foreign interference in Arab affairs and called for building regional relations based on the principles of good neighborliness and mutual respect.

"We must work to identify the sources of danger to our national security and devise plans to confront them," he said.

The minister stressed that the Palestinian issue is the central issue and that "the region will not enjoy the comprehensive security and stability it deserves if the Palestinian-Israeli conflict is not resolved on the basis of the two-state solution." He underlined the need to end the stalemate and restore hope for a just peace in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions.

Safadi said: "The legal and historical status of Jerusalem and its sanctities must be protected from unilateral Israeli actions that threaten the Arab and Christian identity of the holt city." He pointed out that these measures are a real threat that the Kingdom is constantly addressing.

"Jerusalem must be a glimmer of hope for peace, not a spark of fire because it is a holy city for the followers the three monotheistic religions." The minister warned of the continued deprivation of some 12 million children in the Arab world from study, indicating that they are growing up in environments of despair and frustration, and are victims of all the challenges that beset our region.

Safadi stressed that terrorism does not belong to religion or civilization, and said that the war against terrorists and their dark ideology "is necessary protect our security and the values ??of peace and life and respect for others represented by our Islamic religion.

On the Syrian crisis, Safadi stressed that there is no military solution to it and must be resolved politically through the Geneva process, which preserves the unity, cohesion and stability of Syria. He emphasized the need to protect civilians and ensure the delivery of aid and the continued support to refugees and host countries such as Jordan.
