Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan announced Sunday that Canada will support the construction and “rehabilitation” of a road along Jordan’s northern border with Syria. The project will contribute to the security and stability of Jordan by allowing the Jordanian Armed Forces to better respond to threats along the border, according to the Department of National Defence.
While in Jordan, Sajjan met with King Abdullah II, the Prime Minister of Jordan and Minister of Defence, Hani Fawzi Al-Mulki, and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Lieutenant General Mahmoud Freihat, to discuss the evolving nature of the threat from the Islamic State.
The DND did not release how much Canadian taxpayers will be spending on the road in Jordan or how long the project will take.
