Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of Industry and Trade Yarub Qudah called for fostering trade and investment Jordanian-Tunisian ties to best serve mutual interests, said Amman Chamber of Trade statement on Wednesday.

The minster's remarks came during his participation in the Tunisian Economic Forum, adding this event is an invaluable opportunity to unleash joint investment potentials.

" This ambition will hopefully become a reality , through launching business partnerships and expanding reciprocal investments, an effort that will positively impact sustainable development in our countries", he pointed out.

The Tunisian Trade Minster, Omar Al-Bahi, on his part, said this multi-day forum will open mutual economic prospects, highlighting the private sector's pivotal role to kick off fresh horizons of business engagement.

He spearheaded the private sector's leaders to rejuvenate bilateral trade accords.

He also noted volume of trade exchange stood at $30 million last year, of which Jordan's exports to the north African nation are $18 million, and its imports are $12 million.

Chairman of Amman Chamber of Trade, Issa Murad, said the forum's deliberations incarnate keenness and resolve of the two countries' private sectors to bolster economic cooperation relations.

" The Jordanian business sector is keen to boost investment partnership with its Tunisian counterpart. The two countries are resolute to rebound 2013 volume of trade exchange, which hit $100 million," he pointed out.

He noted today's level doesn't reflect the two countries' available trade, industrial, and services capacities, saying the swift flow of economic information online, and the launch of direct maritime and air routes are potential cooperation prospects.

Chairman of Amman Chamber of Industry, Zeiad Homsi, said Jordan and Tunisia are "regional gateways" and urged business entrepreneurs to launch investment projects in a bid to benefit from relevant expertise available.
