This new approach was not detailed, however it comes after a Paris-based Qatari sheikh Sultan bin Suhaim Al-Thani released a statement saying that he “hopes the ruling family and dignitaries respond to an invitation for a national meeting”. Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said the quartet meeting aims to get Qatar to stop supporting terrorism and destabilizing the region. “One of our demands is that Qatar stops interfering in other countries’ affairs. We do not interfere in other countries’ affairs in general. This is a solid principle we adhere to,” Shoukry told reporters. Shoukry also praised Kuwait’s efforts saying: “We appreciate the Kuwaiti emir’s efforts which aim to restore Arabic unity and purify the atmosphere inside the Gulf Cooperation Council.” *Al Arabiya
