Preliminary results of municipal, decentralization elections announced

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - A total of 1.302,949 million voters or 31.71 per cent of eligible voters cast their ballots in the Kingdom's municipal and decentralization elections held yesterday, President of the Independent Elections Commission, Khaled Kalaldeh announced.

Briefing the media on the preliminary results of the polls, Kalaldeh idicated that 6622 candidates competed for 2444 seats as members and mayors of municipalities and governorates council members.

He pointed out that Ajloun, northwest of Amman, saw the highest voter turnout which reached 62.81 per cent followed by Mafraq (59.8 per cent); Karak (57.14 per cent); Jarash (56.91 per cent); Tafileh (54.46 per cent) and Ma'an with 54.26 per cent.
