Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Prime Minister Hani Mulki Sunday met president of the Jordanian Writers Association (JWA) president, Elayan Al Odwan, and members, who briefed him on challenges facing the association.

Mulki stressed the role of the (JWA) in managing cultural work and effectively engaging in the local and Arab cultural landscape as well as fending off the "dark" ideology, which is alien to our traditions and tolerant Islamic religion, and which some quarters try to disseminate among members of society.

He stressed the importance of networking between the JWA, a civil society organisation that serves as an umbrella for Jordanian writers, and the ministries of culture and youth to hold training workshops and courses targeting youth to enhance awareness of their national identity and the challenges facing the country.

Mulki pledged government support of projects to promote Jordanian culture, noting the importance of conducting studies to familiarize the public with the books and new releases "in a way to encourage reading and develop thought".

The prime minister pledged to look into the JWA's demands, included the allocation of a plot of land to build the association's headquarters, its representation in the Higher Committee of the Jerash Festival and financial support.
