Army foils infiltration, smuggling attempts

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The Border Guards at the Eastern Military Zone, late Sunday, foiled an infiltration attempt by three persons who tried to cross borders into Jordan from Syria, a military source at the General Headquarters of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army said Monday.
The source explained that the army personnel applied the rules of engagement taken in such cases, forcing the infiltrators to retreat to the Syrian front.
After searching the area, the army personnel seized around 589,994 narcotic pills, adding that the seized items were referred to relevant authorities, it added.
The military source also noted that another infiltration attempt by a number of persons who tried to cross the frontier from Syria, was also foiled Sunday at the Northern Military Zone, adding that the army personnel applied the rules of engagement, forcing the infiltrators to retreat to the Syrian front.
After searching the area, four bags including some 557,039 Captagon pills, 603 palm- sized sheets of Hashish and an individual weapon were seized.
All seized items were referred to the competent authorities, the source added.
