King meets with some Arab leaders

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - His Majesty King Abdullah II, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, on Wednesday, held a tripartite meeting discussing ways to coordinate joint efforts to push the peace process forward.

The meeting dealt with the 2002 Arab Peace Initiative and re-launching it as an Arab strategic option for achieving a comprehensive and just peace in the Middle East, as affirmed by the Amman Declaration issued at the end of the Arab Summit today.

The three leaders emphasized the importance of intensifying efforts to revive serious and effective negotiations between the Palestinians and Israelis, based on the two-state solution as the only solution to the conflict.

They also stressed the importance of preserving the historical status quo in Jerusalem, saying any attempt to tamper with this situation would have negative implications on the security and stability of the whole region.

The meeting also underlined the importance of crystallizing common Arab visions to address the crises in the region and to reach political solutions that restore its security and stability.

During a one-on-one meeting, His Majesty the King and the Egyptian president discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries to serve their common interests.

They emphasized the need to maintain coordination and consultation on various issues of common concern, in a manner that serves the issues of the Arab nation and achieves security and stability for its peoples.

His Majesty King Abdullah II Wednesday met on the sidelines of the Arab Summit, which concluded today, with Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi and discussed Jordanian-Tunisian ties and ways of boosting them.

The two leaders tackled a host of regional issues and efforts to combat terrorism. The meeting touched on means of advancing pan-Arab cooperation and solidarity.

His Majesty King Abdullah II, on Wednesday, met with Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo, who headed his country's delegation to the Arab summit.

The meeting discussed the situation in Somalia, the need to support it to achieve security and stability.

The meeting also touched on regional and international efforts to combat the threat of terrorism as part of a comprehensive strategy.

His Majesty congratulated President Farmajo on his election as president of his country.
