Senate president calls for boosting economic cooperation with Switzerland

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Senate President Faisal Al Fayez held a series of meetings in Bern with senior Swiss officials on means to forge closer ties between Jordan and Switzerland, mainly in the political, economic and parliamentary fields.

Al Fayez met with President of the National Council of Switzerland Jurg Stahl, and discussed with him means to further promote Jordanian-Swiss ties and increase economic and financial support to the Kingdom.

He stressed Jordan's keenness to maintain coordination and cooperation with Swiss legislative institutions to serve the interests of both peoples.

The Senate president reviewed Jordan stance on various regional issues, mainly the Palestinian issue, the Syrian crisis and efforts to combat terrorism.

He also spoke about the economic challenges facing Jordan as it hosts a large number of Syrian refugees and provides them with various services.

Speaker of the Swiss National Council praised the role played by Jordan under the leadership of His Majesty the King to end the conflict in the Middle East and achieve peace.

Al Fayez also met with Director of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation Manuel Sager and briefed him on the economic challenges facing the Kingdom due to the crisis in Syria and the current situation in the Middle East.

The two sides discussed prospects of future cooperation in the investment and economic fields.

The Swiss official stressed his country's desire to strengthen cooperation with Jordan in various fields. He also affirmed the need to provide support to Jordan to enable it to deal the challenges arising from the Syrian crisis.
