Border Guards foil drug smuggling attempt

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Border Guards, in cooperation with the Anti-Narcotics Department (AND), aborted an attempt to smuggle large quantities of drugs through the northern borders, and arrested one of the suspects, according to a statement by the Pubic Security Department (PSD).

The statement said that the AND received a tip that a number of people were attempting to smuggle drugs into the Kingdom from a neighboring country through the northern borders, adding that the Border Guards managed in coordination with the AND to seize 1.6 million drug pills and 60 kilograms of hashish that were hidden in large bags and referred to the AND.

Following investigations, AND personnel managed to identify the person involved in arranging the smuggling attempt and arrested him. Efforts are currently underway to arrest an Arab national who is also involved in the smuggling attempt.
