Jordan to find new foreign markets for local products

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, Jawad Anani, Tuesday, said the government was keen to open new markets in north Africa for Jordanian agricultural exports.
The minister's comments came as he opened on behalf of Prime Minister Hani Mulqi a conference on public policies related to the agricultural sector.
He also stressed the importance of directing young men and women to work in the farming sector to have their input in the national economy.
"The agricultural sector plays an effective and key role in advancing the national economy, as it has a strategic role in the development process in rural communities", said Anani.
He explained that agriculture contributes to promoting food security in light of the growing demand on food due to the increase in population.
Furthermore, Anani, who is also deputy premier for economic affairs, said the government had relentlessly endeavoured to find new markets for produce, including the Russian market.
He hoped the conference would comes up with practical recommendations to overcome challenges arising form the frequent closures of borders.
