25-08-2015 08:20 PM

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Jordan’s Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Nayef Al Fayez said to Saudi-based Alriyadh newspaper that Jordan received a large number of Saudi tourists during the summer season, up 41 per cent from last year.

He points out that July witnessed the highest entrance rate to Jordan by Saudis.

Al Fayez adds that the increase in tourist numbers has enhanced the growth of the tourism sector in Jordan.

He says that the Jordanian Ministry of Tourism didn’t register any harmful incidents happening to any Saudi tourists, adding that the Tourist Police deals with any problems rapidly in the event of an accident.

Al Fayez says: “There are higher directions from His Majesty King Abdullah II to offer all facilities and support to any tourist from the Gulf, especially Saudi citizens, and provide them with all potentials they need.”

He stresses the importance of communicating with the Tourist Police in case tourists face any problems.

Jordanian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Jamal Al-Shamayleh says the overall number of tourists in Jordan is between three and four million, with Saudi visitors accounting for 40 per cent of them, Jordan-based Ammon News reports.

Al-Shamayleh adds: “This is because Saudis see Jordan as an extension of Saudi Arabia in terms of values and customs.” He added that “in Jordan tourist places are in tune with Saudi traditions which are similar to that in Jordan especially family tourism.”
