Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of State for Media Affairs and Acting Foreign Minister Mohammed Momani said that Jordan is deeply concerned over the UNRWA's financial crisis and is watching closely the gap between the needed funds for the agency and its fiscal resources.

During a speech at the agency's advisory commission meeting in Amman, Momani said Jordan hosts Palestinian refugees more than the other five countries where the agency operates, adding that most of those refugees are Jordanian citizens in addition to their legal status as refugees. The minister also said that safeguarding the rights of Palestinian refugees, as stipulated by international references, is a core responsibility of Jordan.

He said he hopes that the advisory commission meeting yields fruitful results to promote the role of the agency at these critical times to meet the needs of six million Palestinian refugees in the region; 42 percent of whom are in Jordan.
