The news site quoted high-level Jordanian sources as saying that senior Jordanian officials close to King Abdullah II have conducted a series of meetings with European officials and members of the US administration to push for the renewing of peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians. The sources pointed out that "a series of meetings were held recently between senior officials in the Palestinian Authority and their Jordanian counterparts to discuss the mechanism that should be followed in the coming negotiations." The sources stressed that the current Israeli government must comply with international resolutions on the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state with its capital in East Jerusalem.
