Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - A prominent member of the Muslim Brotherhood Organization, on Tuesday, described a planned rally by the group's former leadership as a "preemptive move, of force and provocation" and called on the group members to boycott the rally.

"The illegitimate leadership, including a small number of outcasts and crisis-mongering leaders, seeks to send messages that they are the most capable and powerful in mobilizing illegal assembly," Jamil Dheisat, Director of the Muslim Brotherhood Media Office, said in a statement to Petra.

Dheisat called on members of the Muslim Brotherhood to boycott the rally, planned for Friday, and place the nation's high interests above all other considerations.

"The legitimate leadership does not oppose the rally in principle but opposes attempts to exploit this activity for political gains through misleading group members to serve personal agendas and certain parties," Dheisat added.

He accused "some parties" of targeting the present legitimate group leadership which is keen to safeguard the county's stability and national harmony.

Dheisat voiced rejection of the dissolved leadership's unprecedented mobilization of families, women and children from all parts of the Kingdom to attend the unlicensed rally and warned of using the assembly as a pretext to tamper with the nation's stability in the backof turmoil in the region.

"The event will have high financial cost as organizers have been mobilizing the group's grassroots to join the unlicensed rally which we think will fail thanks to the awareness of the Islamic Movement members," Dheisat asserted.

In the past, Dheisat noted, the group's members, funding and activities were undisclosed, sowing "fear and terror" in the society and operating with impunity; today however, it follows the law and a system that determines how the group shall work in order to restore its aspired national role.

Earlier in March, authorities granted a license to the Muslim Brotherhood to operate as a Jordanian charity after former supreme leader of Jordan’s Brotherhood Abdul Majid Thneibat and other leaders filed an application with the authorities requesting to license the group as a Jordanian charity not affiliated with any foreign party.
