Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah chaired today the Royal Health Awareness Society’s (RHAS) Board of Trustees meeting which discussed the pivotal role RHAS plays in promoting healthy practices among Jordanian families and listened to a brief about the society’s achievements and future plans.
Her Majesty said that it is crucial to raise awareness on several health-related issues such as the importance of a balanced nutrition, the dangers of drug abuse and the necessity of obtaining patients’ medical history prior to their treatment.
Her Majesty also praised RHAS’s different projects which strive to promote healthier practices among local communities, noting that the positive effect of these projects has been evident to Her during various visits to organizations that benefited from RHAS’s programs.
During the meeting Dr. Rami Farraj, Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees, talked about RHAS’s accomplishments in the past year, and said that the society is optimistic about achieving greater goals this year.
Mrs. Enaam Barrishi, Director of RHAS, presented a brief about the society’s programs, which include the Shababna project that aims to establish a national network of Jordanian youth volunteers that play a significant role in educating their peers and encouraging healthy lifestyles and behaviors.
She added that RHAS and through the ‘Healthy Community Clinic’ program was able to provide patients with better preventative services and are now able to manage their diseases and reduce future complications.
The Royal Health Awareness Society, and in partnership with the Ministries of Education and Health, continues to implement its projects that focus on three main areas: schools, youth and community.
RHAS is also in the process of launching two new programs in 2015 that focus on two main areas, student nutrition as well as personal and oral hygiene. The two projects will be launched in partnership with the Ministries of Education and Health, World Food Program (WFP), UNICEF and different private sector partners.
