Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour received his Palestinian counterpart Rami Hamdallah, who delivered a letter of greetings from the Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas, to His Majesty King Abdullah II.
Ensour discussed with Hamdallah a number of issues, particularly the rejection of a UN Security Council resolution demanding an end to the Israeli occupation.
Hamdallah reiterated that "any further negotiations by the Palestinian side will be considered through Jordan." He also highlighted the depth of the strategic ties linking both the countries, and expressed pride at the level of cooperation between the two sides, stressing that Jordan is the "strategic depth of Palestine." Ensour emphasized Jordan's stance in supporting the Palestinian issue and the efforts to secure the legitimate right of the Palestinians that can eventually result in the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on Palestinian soil with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Both the premiers also discussed the Israeli decision which halted the transfer of tax revenues to the Palestinians and its impact on the Palestinians.
Hamdallah expressed thanks on behalf of the Palestinian President and the government to Jordan's King and government for their stance towards Jerusalem which suffers repeated Israeli violations.
