Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Two security guards from a private security company were seen monitoring a protest held by leftists and pan-Arabists in Amman on Wednesday.

The security guards parked their car nearby the protest and were watching the events, prompting protesters and passersby to question their affiliation.

The two guards identified themselves as employees of Torres Enterprise Solutions, a prime contractor for U.S. government security, which offers security and protective services to US embassies and personnel in various parts of the world, including the Middle East and Jordan.

They told police that they belong to the security and protective services of the American Embassy in Amman.

The two men reportedly remained inside their car throughout the protest, and had wireless communications devices with them.

Dozens of Jordanian activists from leftists and pan-Arab movements had staged a sit-in in Amman on Wednesday to protest government measures that led to price hikes amid difficult economic conditions afflicting the country.
