Ammon News - AMMAN The Jordan Armed Forces' Morale Guidance Department on Tuesday urged media outlets to seek accuracy and credibility and not to be driven by the pursuit for scoops when publishing reported incidents on the Jordan-Syria borders.
Over the past few weeks, various media outlets have been publishing reports on shells landing on Jordanian territory or Jordanian citizens being injured due to intense fighting between the Free Syrian Army and regime's army as well as alleging that fighters and weapons are being sent into Syria.
The department said that most media outlets depended on locals' reports or unidentified or inaccurate and even biased sources in some instances and provided untrue details, analysis and commentaries.
It added that such practices caused confusion, rumors and misinformation that do not by any means reflect journalist professionalism. The Morale Guidance Department pledged that it will continue to provide the media with all needed information, arrange field visits to the borders area and answer queries.
