Lower House speaker meets Italian ambassador

Ammon News - AMMAN (Petra) - Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament Saad Al-Srour met with Italian Ambassador to Jordan Patrizio Fondi on Monday and pointed out the economic and social burdens shouldered by Jordan due to the current regional situation.

During the meeting, Al-Srour said Jordan’s resources were strained as a result of its hosting of an increasing number of Syrian refugees every day.

He also briefed the Italian envoy on the comprehensive reforms adopted by Jordan, under the direct guidance of His Majesty King Abdullah II.

Al-Srour praised the strong relations between the two countries, especially at the parliamentary level, and expressed the need to further strengthen bilateral ties in the interests of both countries.

The Italian ambassador commended the reform process adopted by Jordan and lauded the active role played by Amman on various regional issues.

Italy is interested in boosting cooperation with Jordan in all spheres, he added.
