Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour made the remarks at a meeting with Chairman of the Jordanian-Turkish Business Council Sherif Egeli. Ensour said that his government would build on the successful visit of His Majesty King Abdullah II to Turkey last March by attracting more Turkish investments in the Mafraq Developmental Zone, which is close the Syrian and Iraq borders and in the southern port city of Aqaba. The PM also said that Jordan was ready to establish a Turkish free zone in Aqaba to facilitate exports to Africa and another zone in Mafraq for exports to the Gulf Arab states. Egeli said that Turkey was interested to invest in Jordan and benefit from the existing strong relations between the two countries and the Kingdom's geographic location, which is a gate to the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states. He said that he would be leading a Turkish business delegation to the Kingdom later in the month to look into the available investment opportunities.
