Lower House condemns Israeli settlers’ attack on Al Aqsa

08-05-2013 07:36 PM

Ammon News - AMMAN (Petra) The Lower House of Parliament has condemned Israeli settlers' violations against the Al Aqsa Mosque and the arrest of Mufti of Jerusalem Sheikh Mohammad Hussein.

"Amid extreme shock and anger, the Lower House received news about the extremist settlers' storming of Al Aqsa Mosque, the arrest of the Mufti of Jerusalem, and Palestinian worshippers being prevented from entering and praying at the mosque," the House said in a statement issued on Wednesday.

"The Lower House strongly condemns such racist action and affirms that these daily and continuing activities by the Israeli authorities and settlers are systemized and pre-planned schemes that reflect the ugly and evil face of extremist Zionists," the statement added.

It pointed out that the attack was part of a series of continued Israeli violations against the sanctity of the Islamic and Christian holy sites in the area and was also an indication of clear and flagrant provocation by an Israeli side that does not want any development or change in the region.

The House said the Israeli occupation authorities were fully responsible for the current situation in the region and warned them of the possible repercussions of the continued activities of Israeli settlers that violated all international resolutions and charters.

It also urged the international community, particularly the UN Security Council, the UNESCO, the Arab League, the Arab Parliament, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and other international and human rights organizations, to act promptly to put an end to these violations and racist practices and immediately release the Mufti of Jerusalem.

The House also praised the stance of His Majesty King Abdullah II on the issue and lauded his support for the Palestinian cause and the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Palestine.
