Ammon News - AMMAN (Petra)--His Majesty King Abdullah II returned home on Sunday at the end of a working visit to the United States, Haiti and Spain.
In Washington, The King held a summit with US President Barack Obama and discussed bilateral ties, regional developments, especially the Syrian crisis and its regional repercussions, and the Palestinian-Israeli peace process.
The King also held a series of meetings with US Vice President Joe Biden and Congressional leaders. The meetings dealt with the latest developments in the Middle East, cooperation between the two countries and the need to stand behind Jordan and encourage the international community to shoulder the burdens of hosting more than 500,000 Syrian refugees in Jordan.
His Majesty also held meetings with representatives of Arab-American and Muslim-American organizations where he reiterated their important role in supporting Arab and Moslem causes, convey issues of Arab and Moslem communities to US decision-makers and enhance understanding and dialogue between the Arab and Islamic Worlds and the West Further, The King met with leaders of American Jewish organizations in Washington and said that achieving a just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East requires concerted efforts by all parties to revive the peace process to establish an independent Palestinian state on Palestinian national soil, living in peace and security alongside Israel.
Addressing a meeting of the Jordanian-US Business Council, King Abdullah spoke about key areas to cement trade cooperation between the two countries.
His Majesty expressed Jordan's commitment to working closely with the United States to promote and encourage economic and trade relations, and to enable the US business community to invest in Jordan and the region, and play a role in promoting economic growth.
On his ways back home, His Majesty met in Madrid with King Juan Carlos of Spain and discussed bilateral ties and ways to boost relations in all fields, as well as the latest developments in the Middle East.
His Majesty also visited the Jordanian peacekeeping contingent operating in Haiti, where he met Jordanian soldiers and checked on their overall conditions, and was briefed on their humanitarian efforts in the crisis-hit and disaster-stricken nation.
