Assailants attack police unit in Ma'an

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Unidentified assailants early Friday morning attacked a police patrol unit in the southern governorate of Ma'an after it pulled over a suspected vehicle.

A police source said that an on-duty patrol unit on the main desert highway stopped a vehicle early Friday morning that carried a license plate with a warrant against it.

A group of assailants, not identified by the source, reportedly attempted to obstruct the police tow truck and attacked the Ma'an main police precinct.

Eye-witnesses told Ammon News that gunshots were heard at the police precinct early Friday morning.

It is yet unknown if the shot were fired in the air or directed at the police precinct.
