King: Jordan determined to enhance business environment

Ammon News - King addresses Jordanian-U.S. business council

WASHINGTON (Petra) His Majesty King Abdullah II on Tuesday expressed Jordan's commitment to working closely with the United States to promote and encourage economic and trade relations, and to enable the U.S. business community to invest in Jordan and the region, and play a role in promoting economic growth.

Addressing a meeting of the Jordanian-U.S. Business Alliance, King Abdullah spoke about key areas to cement trade cooperation between the two countries, which include the sectors of information technology, telecommunications, tourism and manufacturing, energy, water, education and healthcare.

Despite regional unrest, the King added, Jordan maintains flexibility, resolve and determination to move forward in enhancing the business environment.

His Majesty pointed out that the Kingdom enjoys a strategic location as a gateway to the region, and is a suitable partner due to available and qualified human potential and capacities.

The King stressed that the meeting is the best proof that the partnership between the two countries is extended, historical and distinctive, in the pursuit of peace, development, stability and prosperity.

King Abdullah said that Jordan has embraced the Arab Spring as an opportunity to move forward in the process of ongoing reform, noting that the majority of lawmakers in the new parliament are new.

He said that Jordan identified the essential requirements and stages needed for the success of the reform roadmap and they include political parties system that are pluralistic and representative, effective parliament, and professional and transparent government bodies.
